Silent Auction to Benefit the Alliance Francaise
The Alliance Française (AF) is an organisation whose mission is to promote French language and culture outside France. Its primary concern is teaching French as a second language.
The Alliance was created in Paris on 21 July 1883 by a group of eminent men, including the scientist Louis Pasteur, the diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, the writers Jules Verne and Ernest Renan, and the publisher Armand Colin.
It finances most of its activities from the fees it receives from its courses and from rental of its installations. Unfortunately, the hard times have affected them as well as many.
Being the proud father of an American young lady with french heritage I thought it would be a good idea to help them go over this hurdle and keep them alive to promote a culture I cherish.
A silent auction will be held in their offices on February 27th. Artists Guillaume Tunzini, Lili Rahmati and myself will showcase our work in their facilities and proceeds of the sales will benefit the Alliance.
